As many of my teachers know I love to travel. And I love music. So I often take advantage of the off season to do a little musical history oriented touring of my own. This summer, my wife and I did a bit of an Allman Brothers tour.
We spent time on Daytona Beach which is the hometown of Duane and Gregg Allman. Our next leg was to New York City to see the annual Beacon Theater show. In addition to taking in the sites around the Big Apple of course, we saw both nights of the band’s stand at the Beacon.
The final leg was a road trip through Southern Georgia where we visited several famous Allman Brothers stops including lunch at the bands favorite H & H Restaurant in Macon. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great and the mystique was well worth the trip.
Perhaps your next class trip would benefit from a little musical history. The history of the Southeastern United States is filled with lots of great musical influences. Let me know.
