On the Road with Silver Sands Middle

GRANT-EDUCATIONAL TOURS

December is a great time to visit DC.  Everywhere we went places were dressed up in their holiday finest.  Traveling with Silver Sands Middle School students, from Volusia County, is a great way end the year.  I’ve been traveling with this school for over 20 years and each year is great.  The students are so much fun to travel with and the chaperones are always great to see again.

We slipped into perfect weather for touring.  The evenings were in the 40’s and the days were up in the 50’s and 60’s.  There were practically no other student groups in town so the students were treated royally everywhere.

When we got to Arlington National Cemetery all the headstones had a wreath placed in front of it.  It was so special to see thousands of wreaths throughout the cemetery.  Arlington is a special place anyway but that was extra.

The Christmas Tree at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was a real special thing too.  We went ice skating at the ice rink in the Sculpture Garden right across from the National Archives on Constitution Ave and the temp was in the 40’s.  They skated until 9pm.  It’s pretty amazing how kids from Florida can learn to skate in a few minutes on the ice.

We ended the tour on Friday, Dec 20 and the temperature was supposed to reach 63.  What a way to end the tour.  Merry Christmas to all…………………

Just saying……………………………
