A December to Remember

December is such a great month to be on tour in our nation’s capital.  Aside from the fantastic weather, Washington D.C. does a great job of showing off it’s holiday spirit.  Traveling with Dunnellon Middle and Belleview Middle over the holiday season was truly a fantastic experience for me.  The students and chaperones were really great and so much fun to be touring with.

We were able to see our National Christmas Tree on the south side of the White House.  We also had the chance to experience the Christmas tree in front of the U.S. Capitol Building.  To say that they were impressive would be an understatement.

Traveling in December means virtually owning the city because very few student groups are there compared to the busy spring time.  We were able to tour a lot of special places totally hassle free.  There were wreaths on every single headstone at Arlington National Cemetery.  The National Cathedral is one of my favorite stops while on a DC trip.  The architecture is truly spectacular.  We were able to see all of the monuments and memorials.  Some of my favorites are the Lincoln Memorial (especially at night), Iwo Jima, and the MLK JR Memorial.

Touring with Dunnellon Middle and Belleview Middle really was the best way to bring 2013 to a close.  On that note……..Happy New Year to all!!!
